Basic Search
On the NetLibrary homepage you can search for eBooks by keyword, title, author, or words in the full text.
Type in your search terms, select the type of search (eg. author) and click on Search.
Advanced Search
The advanced search enables you to combine fields (eg. author and keyword), to limit your search by year,
publisher or language, and to sort your results.
Search Results
The search results screen lists the number of eBooks matching your query and provides brief details for each title. You can
display the results by date, or alphabetically by title or author.
The Revise Search option takes you back to the advanced search page if you wish to edit or
refine your search. Click on View this eBook to access the full text. You can browse online for a short period.
Select Show Details to view the full record, including hyperlinked subject headings which you can click
on to find other titles on the same subjects. From the eBook Details screen you can view, check out, add to your favorites
or email the details.
Viewing an eBook
After performing your search, the eBook is displayed when you select a title from your results, or, within your chosen record
in NOAALINC, click on the URL link.
Use the Previous and Next buttons on the navigation toolbar at the top of the document to turn the pages, or type in a page number
and click on Go.
The panel on the left of the screen lists the Table of Contents, which you can use to select specific chapters and subsections
for viewing. Click on the plus (+) signs next to the headings for more detail.
You can also use the Search this eBook option at the bottom left of the screen to find terms within the content.
The display will show the first page containing your term and you can click on Next to view further hits.
A Dictionary is available on the left of the screen for looking up unfamiliar terms.
Printing
Due to copyright restrictions you can only highlight one paragraph at a time of an ebook to copy and paste.
You can only print one page at a time. It is in a frame environment so you need to make sure your cursor is blinking
in the right frame to print the page. You can also achieve this via print preview and select the frame you want to print.
Creating an Account
If you wish to create a favorites list and keep notes you will need to create an account. On the NetLibrary homepage click
on Create a Free Account at the top right of the screen, then fill in your details and submit.
Whenever you visit NetLibrary you can Log In and access your favorites, notes and account details via the links at the top
right of the homepage.
If you have logged into your own account, click on Log Out at the top right of the NetLibrary homepage when you have finished.
Adding Notes
While viewing an eBook you can annotate pages and save your notes. Click on the Notes tab in the panel on the left. Give the
note a descriptive Name and then fill in the Note text field (up to 500 characters). Click on Add Note.
You can access your notes again by clicking on Notes within an eBook or from the Favorites and Notes link on the top right
of the NetLibrary homepage.
Closing E-books
Click close item when done rather than closing the browser or clicking the browser back button. This closes the eBook
and makes it accessible to other patrons without a delay of 15 minutes.
