How to use RSS:
- get table of contents from new journals issues as they are released
- view new journal articles on a specific topic from various databases
- obtain news updates on general topics in science and other fields from Google, New York Times and BBC, among others
- learn when a specific topic is being discussed on blogs

Database Search Alerts:
- Web of Science- first save your search, then click on xml button
- Meteorological and Geoastrophysical Abstracts (MGA)- under “search tools”
Blogs:
- Enter your search terms in Technorati.com and then click “subscribe” in the upper right corner
- For individual blogs, just look for “subscribe to this feed” or orange XML or RSS button
News:
- Run your search in Google News then click on RSS or Atom to subscribe to the news feed for that search.
